1939  The three brothers, John, Louis Jr. and Theodore in front of their beloved Caiman II in the final stages of building.  This great sportfishing boat was hand built by the Schmidts and was revolutionary for its time.

The fishing world's newest inductees into the IGFA Hall of Fame are the Schmidt Family of Panama.  Their contributions to the sport of recreational angling began in the 1920's in Panama.  These were incredible hard working everyday men with great passion for the sport.  They were blue color workers who pooled resources to achieve greatness in a sport too often reserved for rich men and women.  Theirs is a story that shows with dedication and desire, anything can be achieved.
